The year I stopped chasing “the next” 😊


Happiest New Year to you my friend. As I reflected on 2025, I had a few honest lessons that I wanted to share with design studio owners. And what started as one email, is now a series of emails i'll be sending this week ;) Keep your eyes peeled. Here's email #1.

At the start of 2025, I felt a kind of lightness in me that I hadn't felt in a while.

2024 had been my biggest year in business yet. And, I had just crossed $1M in lifetime sales as a Solopreneur—a milestone I quietly celebrated with a matcha in hand and a very full heart. 💚

I was on a high. But not the frantic kind.
This one felt calm. Grounded.🧘‍♀️

And in that quiet I noticed an invisible pattern—the one where every time I hit a goal, I immediately looked for the next.🫣

After hitting my first 6-figures in 2020, the goalpost kept moving.

First $200K... then $300K.

And I hit those slowly and steadily, working 4-hour days, with wild profit margins thanks to a lean business model that actually worked.🤩

So, of course the next logical goal? $500K.

On paper, it made sense, exciting too. I had the momentum, the systems, a scalable business model, and honestly… the ambition.

But when I sat with it, something didn’t feel right.

It felt like I was chasing a goal simply because it was “next.”
Because it looked shiny.
Because it would sound impressive to others and maybe myself.

And honestly? (And this is the hardest one to admit)
I think I was afraid to find out who I was if I wasn't the girl striving for the next big thing. Ouch.

But deep down?

I was bored of running on autopilot ambition.🥱

Without pausing.
Without checking if it actually meant more joy, depth, or more me.

So I did something I hadn’t done in years :)

I slowed down.
I didn’t chase the next thing.
I sat in the stillness and.. listened to myself.

And it changed everything.

Because ambition without consciousness?

Just a distraction in disguise.

Maybe this year was your biggest year in your design studio.
Or maybe it felt quieter, slower, a little upside down.

Either way, hear me when I say:
It’s exactly what it was supposed to be. ✨

Some years build revenue.
Some years build capacity.
Both matter. Both are growth.

And here’s the truth:
To hit your next big revenue goal, you don’t need to do more.
You need to become more of the version of you who can hold it.
