A 7-figure client turned down my $14K proposal 🫣

You receive what seems like a dream inquiry, but you hear it again on the sales call - “I can’t afford it, thats out of our budget”.

And so you think you need to lower your prices or offer discounts.

But no, you don't.

Its not that your audience can't afford $10K+ Reader, it's that they don't understand the value of investing $10K in your services.

Back in 2020, fresh off my maternity break, I sent a $14K proposal to a TV-famous wedding dress designer. We’re talking about a celebrity with a multiple 7-figure business.

Was she rich? Absolutely. 💸
Had the money to spend on a website? 100%.

So, imagine my surprise when she turned me down flat. 😳

On paper, she was the perfect client. Dream client, successful, had the money.

So, what went wrong?

Plot twist– It wasn’t about the money. 🧐

She didn't say “no” because she couldn't afford it.

She said “no” because I hadn't communicated the value of the investment clearly enough.

Read that again. 👆

I didn't explain why the website was worth $14K. What's the ROI? How does it transform her business?

That NO taught me something important —

People don't spend because they have money.
People spend when they see value. 💡

And if you can't communicate that value clearly on a sales call, you'll lose the project, no matter how much money they have.

On the flip side, over the past 6 years, I've had clients sign on who didn't have surplus cash. They signed on because they saw value in the results I could bring for their business.

So when you hear “that's out of my budget” on sales calls?

It's not your price. It's that you haven't shown them the value yet.

Good news? This is fixable. 🙌

Inside the High-End Web Designer (HEWD) program, we teach a powerful sales method called Value-Based Conversations (VBC).

Once you nail this in your sales calls,

+ You will no longer worry about sounding “salesy”
+ You will not need to lower your prices or offer discounts
+ Sales calls start to feel natural, fun, and EASY 🤩
+ Booking high-end clients will feel like a walk in the park 🌳🚶‍♀️

Michelle, a HEWD designer, used VBC to land her first $10K client.

Hey Reader I 'll keep this one short and direct. The designers booking $10K projects right now are not the most AI-fluent ones in the room.🤷♀️They're the most visible ones. They're having conversations. Following up. Showing up consistently in front of the exact people who need what they offer. That's the work. Designers are spending entire weeks buried in tutorials, tool comparisons, and "just figuring out this one feature" and wondering why the pipeline is dry. If your goal for the next 30...

Want to show up differently in your design studio in 2026? Start with your mindset. As I reflected on 2025, I had a few honest lessons that I wanted to share with design studio owners. And what started as one email, is now a series of emails coming your way this week. Here's email #2. Hey Reader, As I said in email #1, following my intuition at the start of 2025, I didn’t make a big plan. No big revenue goals. No fancy strategies. No color-coded calendar. I chose less structure, more space....
